Women Only Yoga Retreat

It starts on Sunday, April 20 at sunset in Tamarindo. And it’s a week long yoga retreat with Virginia.

We will gather for a week of yoga, meditation, journaling, and emotions. Sunday we focus on the Solar Plexus. Monday the Root. Tuesday the Sacral Chakra. Wednesday has historically been the Heart Chakra but these days I keep the Heart Chakra to the final one.

Yoga, for me, is about breathing. Inhale. Exhale. And you get one body at your birth. Five physical senses: eyes, nose, mouth, ears, skin. What’s your favorite smell? Mine is lavender and sandalwood is a close second. With your eyes, you’ll see the sun set over the ocean. And it will be warm. What you pay attention to with the other senses is up to your discretion.

Mentally, yoga fosters mindfulness and self-awareness. The focus on breath and movement allows individuals to become attuned to their thoughts and feelings, cultivating a sense of calm and clarity. This mental discipline can help reduce stress and anxiety, creating a more balanced emotional state.

Meditation, for me, is bringing awareness to your thoughts. Setting intention words at the beginning of an activity is a good way to create a good habit of gratitude for the present moment.

I have been writing in a diary and journaling since I was eight years old. I only started doing yoga as an adult. I promise, we will yoga, meditate and journal every day of the retreat. We’ll also eat meals together and explore around Tamarindo.
